What a week

My heart goes out to the people of Houston, Galveston and other places that Hurricane Ike has hit. We have been extremely blessed here in Austin to not to have been affected by this disaster. We have a lot of people here from the Houston and Galveston area occupying the shelters.Hopefully they are being treated well and will return to their everyday life as soon as possible. Lets pray for them and if anyone that read my little blog were affected, my heart goes out to you and your family.

Favorite Hair Product

Can I tell you what my favorite hair product is:

Yep, its Organic Unrefined Coconut oil. It has been known that Coconut oil has many natural properties that improves the appearance and condition of hair. I use this every night as a sealant. I add it to conditioners when I do my weekly deep conditioner treatments. Love this, and it gives the hair a natural healthy shine without the cones found in many other products.

Give it a try, you will see a difference in your hair. I've been meaning to do a post on this, just now getting around to it, this is definetely a staple of mine.

Have you ever heard the comparison between an Eagle and Pigeon?

I know where am I going with this post? But have you ever heard the comparison between an Eagle and a Pigeon? When setting expectations for your self how do you set them? Let me tell you the comparison between the Eagle and the Pigeon. The Eagle knows that they are at the top of the food chain. When the Eagle has babies, they build their nests with thorns, sticks; twigs (the hardest, most uncomfortable elements that can be found) and they build this nest high. Why, Why you might ask? When Eagles are born, their parents instill in them that are to fly above all other birds. They are the highest-flying birds in their species. They build this nest high because when they fall; they want their young to have that natural instinct, to fly high where they belong. They build their nest with the most uncomfortable elements, because they want their young gone. They want them gone and independent early. They expect them to soar, and not teeter below where lower species reside.

When setting your expectations do you set them high, or do you mingle around waiting for handouts? Be an Eagle in your own right. Decide early to soar, set’em high and don’t get complacent. An Eagle has Vision, its eyesight is 4 times as sharp of any human, an Eagle flies into the storm, not heading for cover like other birds. So I ask, are you an Eagle or a Pigeon? Lets set our goals early, high and soar above average.

I had the privilege of living most of my life in a small town. I was just your average hockey mom, and signed up for the PTA because I wanted to make my kids' public education better. When I ran for city council, I didn't need focus groups and voter profiles because I knew those voters, and knew their families, too. Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown. And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a "community organizer" [referring to Obama], except that you have actual responsibilities.

I'm not a member of the permanent political establishment. And I've learned quickly, these past few days, that if you're not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone. But here's a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion -- I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country.

Our opponents say, again and again, that drilling will not solve all of America's energy problems - as if we all didn't know that already. But the fact that drilling won't solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all. Starting in January, in a McCain-Palin administration, we're going to lay more pipelines, build more nuclear plants, create jobs with clean coal and move forward on solar, wind, geothermal, and other alternative sources. We need American energy resources, brought to you by American ingenuity, and produced by American workers.

Here's how I look at the choice Americans face in this election. In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change.

Are you guys going to be watching tonight? With all the speculation and media surrounding Sarah Palin and her family, whats really the issue? Tonight we will watch her deliver a well written, rehearsed speech. I believe she'll smooth things over, and wow the audience but lets think about some real issues here. Sarah Palin's experience is 2 years as Gov. of Alaska. Does Alaska has the issues such as states of New York, California, or Texas. Whats the population of Alaska? It doesn't compare. Sarah Palin apparently just obtained a passport last year. Last year, how are you going to negotiate Foreign policies if you don't have the experience to do so? She doesn't have the experience. What were McCains qualifications for choosing her as his potential VP? Because again, this election causes of to scrutinize the VP pick because of McCains age. In the past, VP, has not played a vital role in our voting decision. But if McCain is elected president and because of his age and medical history the VP would have to be ready to step into the role as president. Are we relying on Sarah Palin to be able to do this? History shows us that 1 out of VP's becuase President. Someone that only has a small amount of experience, only recently obtained a passport, someone willing to marry her 17 year old daughter to someone because she's pregnant? That speaks to her judgment, why would you put a band aid on the fact that her family is not living by her practices, which are abstinence before marriage. And why would even subject your daughter to such scrutiny knowing the situation, why not decline the invitation for your daughters sake? She's already going through enough but do it before a nation?

I think this whole thing was a stunt, by picking a female VP he was trying to be clever but it backfired on him. Becuase I dont think she's the right female for the job. There were plenty of other women who were more qualified. I would have like to seen the other candidates that were passed over, making her the pick.

Just my thoughts.

I'm sure everyone is buzzing over President hopeful John McCains VP pick, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, announced that her 17-year-old unmarried daughter was pregnant.But below is our Democratic President Elects response:
"I have said before and I will repeat again: People's families are off limits, and people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as a governor and/or her potential performance as a vice president. So I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18 and how a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn’t be a topic of our politics." ~ Barack Obama

This is why this man is going to be president, how diplomatic is that. Do you think the Republican camp would have responded the same??

My 11 year old is transitioning!

Some time ago, my 11 year daughter mentioned to me that she wanted to transition back to her natural hair texture. So what does this mean, no more relaxer. She does have a beautiful curl pattern to her hair. I originally relaxed her hair because it just made maintenance a little easier, but now that she's getting older, I think she should have some say in the maintenance of her hair. And I am proud that she is embracing her natural hair without the aid of relaxers. I will journal, her progress, and see where this takes us. Who knows, maybe I'll get inspired to stop using the creamy crack, we'll see.

1st day of school

Hey Guys, I have been MIA this week getting my girls ready for back to school. Hopefully everyone got their kiddos back to school without a hitch and everyone is happy go lucky. Mine hasn't started out that way, I'm still waiting. Now keep in mind this year, I have two new experiences happening this week. First of all, my little little one is going to Kindergarten. Yep, that little bundle of joy that I gave birth to 5 years ago is going to kindergarten. Wow, where does the time go. And second of all, my first born is going to Middle school. Yes, girls, my oldest daughter is in middle school. Man, I cant believe it. So we've been talking to 5 year old all summer about "going to big girl school", and thought she would just breeze through the separation part of the 1st day of school. See that picture above, that's how it went. I am not going to even post the 2nd day photo, that would embarrass and scar that child for dear life. But poor thing, you would have thought, we were throwing her to the wolves. Hey going to Elementary school is terrifying, after all, kids are tall these days. My little one was just not ready for all that commotion. Hopefully, the rest of the week will be better. I want to hear about others first day of school. Oh yeah, the 6th graders 1st day, was easy breezy. Just one mishap, we miscommunicated about whether she was riding the bus or if my husband was picking her up. So he showed up and was not happy our our little miscommunication. But he found her ( they pulled off the bus), and all is good in Bebley Land.


Gotta Love it.
