Beyonce... Sasha Fierce

Ok, its Thursday, the CD came out on Tuesday, yep already got it saved on the playlist. All in all, B..., I mean Sasha does her thing. Betwween her and Mary J, I'm good to go as far as talent goes. They both take it there. Its a double CD, so it has it hits and misses but for the most part I love it. Here the downlow:

1.If I Were a Boy-Hot,love this one and video, loves it
2.Halo-Download, borrow, steal it, love this one too
3.Disapear-Aiight, it works I guess
4.Broken Hearted Girl-Blah, its another track I guess
5. Ave Maria-Kills Its. I love this song, I heard this years ago sung by the great opera singer Luciano Pavarotti. But B.. I mean Sasha puts her own little spin on it,and we all know she can blow. So she kills it.
6.Smash Into You-Confused, its a ballad but the title is a little off.
7.Satellites-.....skip it, trash. You know it has to be one of those on every CD. Sasha is no exception
8.Thats why you're beautiful- Kind of sounds like something from before

1.Single Ladies- This was on the last CD, it was called "Get me Bodied", but I like it. Its make you wanna hit the dance floor.
2.Radio- ?????? Still on the fence
3.Diva- Thats on the playlist, I like it
4.Sweet Dreams-???? Still on the fence
5.Video Phone-Not so much
6. Hello-????
7.Ego-Beg, borrow or steal it, loves this one too.
8.Scared of lonely-Nah, start from beginning, this last song is a little dry for me

I celebrate for the black men and women who persevered through the Jim Crow Era.

I celebrate for the three civil rights workers, found buried six weeks after disappearing in Mississippi.
I celebrate for the four black students who began sit-ins at a lunch counter where black patrons were not served.

I celebrate for Thurgood Marshall who successfully argued to overturn segregation.
I celebrate for the thousands of African Americans killed by lynching.
I celebrate for the 399 victims of the Tuskeegee experiment - black men unknowingly infected with syphilis for a government study of the disease.
I celebrate for Michael A. Donald the 19-year-old lynched by two Klansmen in 1981.
I celebrate for James Byrd, the 49-year-old black man chained to a truck and dragged to death through the streets by 3 white supremacists in 1998.
I celebrate for the men and women who marched in Selma, some who paid for our voting rights with their lives.
I celebrate for those who never thought they would live to see this day, and for those who unfortunately did not.

I celebrate for my children, who will grow up with the confidence in knowing that they can truly be anything they want to be in life, even President.

Freebies

Hey Lovies, with the state of the economy in a shambles, I think I found a new hobby. Seeking and requesting free samples of products. I saw this piece on Good Morning America, this site that tells you of how you can get free samples of the products that you use everyday. Companies love giving samples because they know that if the consumer likes them, they'll buy them.

http://freebies4mom.blogspot.com/

Check it out, it links you to all the updated samples, and coupons. Hey who doesn't like to save a penny a two. I just signed up for a few so when I get my samples I'll be reviewing the products on the blog.

Always thinking ahead,

Sorry

I have been incognito lately, been suffering from a horrible tooth ache. So today I finally got in to see the dentist to either fix it or pull it. So she goes to pull in and just couldn't seem to get it numb enough so she gives me more meds. Man have you ever had that little torture tool ( drill) hit a nerve. Oh my God, it is nothing nice do you hear me. So she couldn't get the nerve numb enough to fix my tooth after that experience, I scheduled with a oral surgeon to knock me out and take the tooth out. Please I am not going to have her testing and playing around to see if she can get it numb, possibly hitting that nerve again, I'm usually pretty cool, calm and collective but man that makes you say a few choice words.

Oh yeah, the picture at the top, I see teeth like that all day on 6th street in Austin, that why I made my appointment a.s.a.p.

Life

I know, I haven't written anything in a while, man I have been busy with Life. Why didn't anyone tell me life was hard. I must have been sheltered as a child because I had no idea that life was this hard. Life is hard, and I live a simple life. I hate to think what it would be if I added complications and what not to my life. I don't know if I would make it, shoot, I'm questioning my ability to cope now. Anyway, off my soapbox and on to the next challenge.

Faubourg Treme, The Untold Story of Black New Orleans

Having not visited New Orleans in a number of years, this is really disheartning. With all the history there, you'd think the city would have received much more aid than it did during a time of need.

New Orleans History
Anyone thats been to NO, knows that the term "creole" is heavily used. One of my best friends was married to a creole guy for quite to some time, and I often heard the word "creole" whether referring to food or as a ethnic group.I found this article that gives a litle history on the word.

Interesting, Gotta Love New Orleans

Saw this quote on another site, interesting!!!

OBAMA/BIDEN '08 "Only in Republican America would a black man with a law degree from Harvard, 12 years in politics, four years on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and manager of one of the most impressively flawless and forward thinking presidential campaigns ever not be ready for the presidency while a white female evangelical with 19 months in national politics and a bachelors in journalism is considered "ready on day one." (taken from the Huffington Post).

What a week

My heart goes out to the people of Houston, Galveston and other places that Hurricane Ike has hit. We have been extremely blessed here in Austin to not to have been affected by this disaster. We have a lot of people here from the Houston and Galveston area occupying the shelters.Hopefully they are being treated well and will return to their everyday life as soon as possible. Lets pray for them and if anyone that read my little blog were affected, my heart goes out to you and your family.

Be encouraged, God Bless.

Fall is Approaching

Living in Texas, I know Fall is not coming any time soon. Especially with temps still reaching 100 degrees on a daily basis. But at least I can dream cant I? Love these hats.... I am going to have to purchase a few of these for the two cold days a year that we do have.

Hats by deLuxe sold on Karma Loop.

Favorite Hair Product

Can I tell you what my favorite hair product is:

Yep, its Organic Unrefined Coconut oil. It has been known that Coconut oil has many natural properties that improves the appearance and condition of hair. I use this every night as a sealant. I add it to conditioners when I do my weekly deep conditioner treatments. Love this, and it gives the hair a natural healthy shine without the cones found in many other products.

Give it a try, you will see a difference in your hair. I've been meaning to do a post on this, just now getting around to it, this is definetely a staple of mine.

Eagle or Pigeon!

Have you ever heard the comparison between an Eagle and Pigeon?

I know where am I going with this post? But have you ever heard the comparison between an Eagle and a Pigeon? When setting expectations for your self how do you set them? Let me tell you the comparison between the Eagle and the Pigeon. The Eagle knows that they are at the top of the food chain. When the Eagle has babies, they build their nests with thorns, sticks; twigs (the hardest, most uncomfortable elements that can be found) and they build this nest high. Why, Why you might ask? When Eagles are born, their parents instill in them that are to fly above all other birds. They are the highest-flying birds in their species. They build this nest high because when they fall; they want their young to have that natural instinct, to fly high where they belong. They build their nest with the most uncomfortable elements, because they want their young gone. They want them gone and independent early. They expect them to soar, and not teeter below where lower species reside.

When setting your expectations do you set them high, or do you mingle around waiting for handouts? Be an Eagle in your own right. Decide early to soar, set’em high and don’t get complacent. An Eagle has Vision, its eyesight is 4 times as sharp of any human, an Eagle flies into the storm, not heading for cover like other birds. So I ask, are you an Eagle or a Pigeon? Lets set our goals early, high and soar above average.
