Do you guys love samples. I love beauty samples. Yes, whether for hair or skin care, I love love love samples. Mainly because I love skin and hair care products, but with samples you get to test what works for you and what doesn’t work for you, for free before you commit to purchasing the product and have to return them should they not work. So, this bring me to the next best thing everrrrrrrrr, sample subscriptions. What in the world you say…… sample subscriptions. Yes companies have come up with the brilliant idea of selling subscriptions of samples that arrive in cute boxes to your mailbox monthly. These products are normally a range of brands that you may or may not be familiar with but give you the opportunity to test out brands from high end companies to determine if you’re willing to purchase these products.  They vary from beauty companies to curly hair products such as the Curl Box. The two that I’ve tried are Beauty Army and Birchbox. I plan to do a full review once I receive my next subscription, so that you’ll have a better idea of products you could receive.

So how does this work exactly, you basically just subscribe for a monthly fee ranging from $10.00-$12.00 to receive your box monthly box, easy as pie right. In the past months I’ve receive products such as:
Skyn Iceland Hydro Cooling Eye Gels
Yes to Carrots Eye firming treatment
Cell Ceutical skins treatments (which is great)
Emani Foundation Primer & Serum
Youngblood mineral primer

These are just to name a very few…..I love receiving my neatly wrapped box in the mail monthly. Its like Christmas once a month throughout the year.  If you love samples and trying new products I highly recommend getting yourself a subscription or two.

Let me know what you think!

What hair products are you currently using?

Currently, I’m loving Moroccan Oil products. Although a bit pricey they seem to keep my hair in excellent condition. I use the Moisture Repair shampoo and conditioner, and when my hair needs a little extra attention I use the Intense hydrating mask. When my hair is damp and before blow- drying I use a little bit of the Moroccan oil treatment as a serum to as well as Kenra blow drying spray to provide a thermal protectant. After the flat ironing I mist with the Moroccan Oil Glimmer spray to a little bit of shine and I’m good to go.
Notice my Now Avocado Oil in the background, I add a little of that before I wrap my hair at night. Let me know your current favs!!!

Polish, Polish and More Polish!!!!

It appears that my latest obsession is now…nail polish. Yes, I love polish,  I have two girls so our favorite past time is at home mani’s and pedi’s. We basically have everything that the nail salons have and try to follow the steps just as the tech does to achieve the ultimate results. Recently, I had my husband build us a nail polish holder because our obsession is pretty much getting out of hand (no pun intended). Our favorite brands are OPI, China Glaze and Essie. We love these brands and usually can’t go into a store without browsing the polish section. In the pic Im wearing Essie-Mojito Madness....Love it!!!!!!

Malia and Sasha Obama

These two are growing into quite the young ladies!!!

Inauguration 2013

Did you watch? I watched with an intense sense of pride. I, being a state employee, had the day off didn’t watch every single minute of the event but for sure watched the most important highlights of the day. These being the walk from the West Wing by  Malia and Sasha, Lady O and of course our POTUS, the official inauguration speech, Kelly Clarkson and BeyoncĂ©’s performance to name few. Throughout the day, there were references from new stations such as FOX (I don’t know why I was surprised) that the speech was more of a civil rights speech rather than an inaugural speech in comparison to those of the past. First of all, let me call your attention to the picture above.  This being the official holiday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, holds a significant amount of history and past events that have contributed to today being possible. Lest we not forget that not far from where Barack Hussein Obama gave this speech today is where the late great MLK gave this commiserative “I Have A Dream Speech”.
Why would this not have some effect on the words that our 44th and first African American President spoke today? Lest we forget that in the small town of Birmingham Alabama, King and marchers were sprayed with hoses, spit upon, hit with rocks all for things that the all other average Americans were afforded. How could this not have some effect on the words that flowed from his mouth? Lest we forget, that there were places that people that looked like BHO couldn’t enter through the front door, is now the leader of this very same free world.  That same military that once beat and bruised people that looked like Barack Hussein Obama now take their orders from someone of his likes.

He mentioned several areas of equality; the event mentioned above calling to action that the journey is not complete until we have true equality for all not just some.

I, for one understood to the very end and can imagine how he felt, standing there with his wife and girls. Not only are we now allowed to vote but used this power to fight for the person we believed would be the better leader of this country. I couldn’t be prouder to say, Forward 2012.
